This book accompanies the 'Materiae Palimpsest' exhibition at the Moroccan Pavilion’s debut in the 19th Venice Biennale. More than a showcase of the scenographic installation, it explores the Pavilion’s core theme: construction techniques using local materials. Extending this reflection through a multiscalar lens, it examines climate challenges, ecological responsibility, knowledge transmission, and the circular economy in Moroccan architecture. Structured as a trilogy of material, technique, and humanity, the book has two complementary sections, readable from either direction. One is artistic and immersive, revealing the Pavilion’s creative process through dialogues, sketches, and archives. The other is intellectual and academic, featuring essays by experts who situate traditional techniques within a sustainable future.
