Volume 94 of Drawing Papers. In the 1970s, Paul Rudolph was commissioned by the Ford Foundation to work on a proposed project for the construction of an expressway through Lower Manhattan, picking up after a failed initiative by Robert Moses. Rudolph's project, never executed, includes the construction of a monorail, new mixed-use buildings, and other attempts to knit the expressway into the existing fabric of New York City.
