Hendrikx, Diane and Muriel Verbist. Living in Antwerp

Cl. Luster. 2012

Book ID: 92974

Antwerp is overflowing with creativity, not only in the field of fashion but also in terms of architecture, design and art. Living in Antwerp is both an inspiring book about interiors and a tribute to the creative energy of the city. Stylist Muriel Verbist and photographer Diane Hendrikx visited 16 creative people living in Antwerp whose homes are interesting architecturally and sometimes even iconic. They share a pride in their houses, and have decorated the interiors with passion and a sense of style, so that the architecture comes into its own. Some of the houses: the black and white house on the Scheldt quays (1987) by the interior designer and art collector Will van Roosmalen; The architect Lon Stynens own home, built in 1934 in the Expo Quarter; a triplex apartment renovated by Dirk Engelen of B architecten using concrete on a large scale; one of three iconic Art Nouveau houses with yellow faades overlooking the railway viaduct (from 1901). Living in Antwerp contains 16 extended reports, with full page photographs accompanied by short texts in Dutch, French and English. The unique design of the book, with its raw, contemporary finish, matches the personal style of the interiors.

454 pp. Dutch/French/English.
