Gerhard Garstenauer’s work as an architect is related to the city and the state of Salzburg. The committed citizen constantly challenges citizens and politics--asked and unasked--with his ideas, criticisms, interventions and urges. The work, spanning half a century, reflects the role model of the “classic” architect, whose work ranges from the renovation of an old town house to the structural renewal of an entire valley, from the design of a cable car gondola to the design of a congress center.
