William Stout Architectural Books is pleased to present an evening with the hugely influential industrial designer Marc Newson at the newly reopened Transamerica Pyramid.
Marc Newson came into the scene with an instantly recognizable style and an approach that’s touched everything from from his cult classic dish rack to an art airplane for Cartier, luggage for Louis Vuitton, cameras for Leica and Pentax, a pen for Montblanc, a public toilet for the Olympics, and even the Championship belt for the newly-formed ladies wrestling association of Japan, to name just a few. His work is held by every major design museum in the world.
We’re celebrating Taschen’s newly published retrospective on his work "Marc Newson. Works 84-24", a monumental publication containing the stories behind all of Newson's work to date. He will be in conversation with Michael Shvo at the Transamerica Pyramid, the iconic building developed by SHVO and remastered in partnership with Sir Norman Foster. The conversation will be followed by a signing.
