Popova, whose mature career spanned a brief 12 years, was an artistic equal to the better known Tatlin, Rodchenko, and Malevich. Strongly influenced by the French Cubists during a 1912 visit to Paris, she returned to Moscow to work in the new style, Constructivism, reflecting the changes wrought in Soviet thinking by the Russian Revolution.
