The ‘Waterloopbos’, a forest on the edge of the North-East Polder municipality in the central Netherlands, has an interesting history. From 1954 to 1996 it was home to the Hydraulics Laboratory where scale models were constructed for research on coastal management, harbours, and watercourses. Nature took over after its closure, and since 2002 efforts have been made to restore the water system and make the area accessible once more. The forest and its cultural heritage were declared a national monument in 2016. This publication is about the transformation of the Delta Flume, an icon of hydraulics research, into a monumental work of art by the designers RAAAF & Atelier de Lyon.
