Very rare first edition, in original state, unbound. A work of revolutionary importance in the history of modern architecture and urban design, Garnier's plan was unprecedented in its acknowledgement of modern industrial realities and economical new materials, such as reinforced concrete; as well as in its spare Loos-like look and its social ideology, based on Fourierist principles. Despite its widespread influence, a second edition (shortened) was not issued until 1932.
