Spanish photographer Mar Sáez has made a visual portrait of gender transition over six years. The photographs of Gabriel’s physical transformation are surrounded by the landscapes that witnessed his revelation and changes, and are accompanied by phrases taken from his diaries and interviews, which help to understand the evolution of his feelings. The photobook also includes images of his childhood, when he was known as Isabel, and includes selfies that he shared in his social networks from 2012 to 2018, the key years of his journey. Sáez combines her work as a freelance photographer with personal projects in which she explores the complexity of identity and biopolitics.
