JA 114 is the first monograph devoted to architect Hiroshi Nakamura, and features 31 architectural works created since the founding of Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP in 2002. The practice has designed buildings of varying scales and types, including residences, offices, commercial facilities, churches, and public facilities. Its structures, material choices, as well as details, are realized through design methodologies uniquely developed for each project—resulting in eclectic spatial forms intended to affect the behaviors and emotions of their inhabitants. By presenting his works over the last 17 years in chronological order, this issue sheds light on how Hiroshi Nakamura’s practice has repeatedly evolved to meet numerous architectural challenges.
