Second Edition of Bruno Taut's 1937 book. This finely produced volume describes Taut's impressions and experiences of Japanese culture and its native architecture. Illustrated with hundreds of photographs, sketches, orthographic drawings, and watercolors. In addition 9 color lithographs are mounted throughout (with protective cellophane sheets, all in very fine condition).
Endpapers are handmade rice paper. Book is in very good condition, the only flaw is foxing on the outside edges of pages. Original dust jacket is in very good condition with a 1" tear on back and minor edge-wear. Jacket is covered in protective mylar.
HB / bw photos, tipped-in color plates protected in tracing paper / 318 pp.
