Original folder in blue cloth, with three plates in colour inside and a Hiroshige's sign in gilt. Includes two small ivory pieces in order to suject the folder. Inside, two volumes, visibly sewed, according with traditional japanese binding techniques, with covers in thick japanese paper, illustrated in black, white and red, containing the text and the plates, respectively. The cover has some minor chipping at corners and spine, much of it succesfully repared. The volumes are in almost excellent conditions. All the sheets are double, another technique of the japanese traditional binding. Ilustrated with 5 folding plates in wood engraving, 6 plates in full-colour, 6 in collotype and 85 in b/w, plus numerous illustrations in monochrome and b/w in text. All the plates are analyzed one by one in the text by Yone Noguchi, an authority in Hiroshige's engravings, giving a precise and sometimes poetical analysis of these. 2200 copies edition, of which 300 copies only were for sale. This edition has been published months before the irruption of Japan in the war, in commemoration of the 2600th anniversary of the founding of the Japanese Empire.
