In 2011, the Centre Pompidou acquired the collection of Christian Bouqueret, the last great series of photographs of the 1920s and 1930s still in private hands in France. The fund retains nearly 7,000 vintage prints divided into one hundred monographic collections, among them the greatest photographers in Paris at that time. "This is Paris" aims to present the riches of this extraordinary collection, but also to sketch the portrait of photographic creation in France at that time the capital of love drew from all the forces of international creation: Americans, Germans, Hungarians and many others. Alongside French photographers, they participate in one of the most flamboyant periods in the history of the medium, which was the beginning of modern photography as we know it today.
