Canadian architect Arthur Erickson (1924-2009), was a passionate advocate of cultural awareness and a fervent explorer of human and natural environments. Produced in conjunction with the exhibition of EricksonÕs drawings and sketches which toured the country in 2013 and 2014, this completely revised edition contains a new foreword, revised essays, new full-page photographs, and new cover art. Arthur Erickson: Layered Landscapes is the inaugural publication of the Canadian Modern series, a peer-reviewed series focused on the cultural and architectural history of twentieth-century Canada. A Vancouver native, Erickson studied at the University of British Columbia and McGill University. In 1963, he won a competition to design Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. His integrative design gained international acclaim, opening the doors to a long and distinguished career. His works include The Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia, the San Diego Convention Center, Napp Laboratories in Cambridge, England, and the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. This new limited edition replaces all previous and now out-of-print versions.
