The culture of saying farewell to deceased people is increasingly being pushed out of everyday life in our society. While the death of the dead from the Aufgebahrung in the house has initially gone into the procession into the death chapels, the dying is now largely anonymous. Witnesses reminiscent of the past culture have often disappeared from the village and cityscapes. Before the construction of the mortuary chapel in Buochs, the architects Patrik Seiler and Søren Linhart (with offices in Lucerne and Sarnen) dealt intensively with the typology and social background of this type of building. The approach to the topic and the concrete building took place on a building-historical, cultural-historical and cultural level. The description of the chapel is woven into this context and is supplemented by an image essay and a literary approach to dying and saying goodbye.
