Supersonic: A Conversation with Clare Vivier & Lawrence Azerrad

Join us for an evening celebrating the launch of the latest edition of Supersonic: The Design and Lifestyle of Concorde.

Lawrence Azarrad and Clare Vivier

Author Lawrence Azerrad will present the book, followed by a conversation with designer Clare Vivier exploring themes of possibility, innovation, hope, and the lessons of Concorde’s past, present, and future. The evening will conclude with a book signing. Moderated by Claudia Schmuckli, Chief Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, with an introduction by Helen Maria Nugent, Dean of Design at California College of the Arts (CCA). Vivier will reflect on her approach to material discipline and feminist authorship and its ties to Andrée Putman’s Concorde interiors. Azerrad will share how his work across music and visual design informed Supersonic and how Concorde continues to stand as a “symbol of possibility public in spirit, disciplined in execution, made legible through determination and craft.” Together, the speakers and moderator will consider how icons of design endure through creative efficiency, purpose, and meaning, and how these lessons can guide a more equitable and imaginative future.

The evening will conclude with a book signing.
Copies of Supersonic are available for pre-purchase and will also be available on site.
